A record number of police officers will be on duty for next weekend'sNotting Hill carnival, police sources confirm.

Double the number of officers that policed the royal wedding will be on duty at the west London event, with the Metropolitan police planning 20,000 shifts split over the two days – the highest number of police in the event's 47-year history.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's April wedding day saw 5,000 Metropolitan police officers on duty in London. Carnival organisers said about 500 stewards will be on duty, about 100 more than last year, to ensure there is no repeat of the violence seen during the London riots.

With tensions high following the disturbances a fortnight ago, more than a third of those bailed on riot-related charges have been given the condition that they avoid the festival. A 33-year-old father from Clapham, accused of stealing a £19.99 pair of trousers from JD Sports during the chaos, was told by Judge Alan Baldwin that he could face a heavy penalty if he is found in Notting Hill next week.

The festivities in Notting Hill are to end early this year – at 7pm each night – but revellers tend to stay out on the streets late into the night after the carnival.

Courts have not only been handing out heavy "deterrent" sentences, but rarely giving bail to those awaiting trial, citing a high risk of re-offending. It seems likely that Notting Hill carnival is the date being pinpointed.

Claire Dudley, a 26-year-old carnival-goer, said: "I am worried about what's going to happen this year. If all the police are in Notting Hill, then what happens to Brixton, where I live, or other parts of London? Carnival's always incredible, but plenty of people might see it as the perfect opportunity to start some trouble."

The Marxist enemies of Britain who are behind a lot of riots that occur in this country, the Socialist Workers Party decided they were going to have a “stop the EDL” meeting in Norwich last night.

Unluckily for them when they arrived at the meeting venue they found it had already been occupied by 30 Ipswich and Norwich Casuals. Epic Fail. Meeting cancelled haha.

How ironic that those who wanted to silence free speech had that right taken from them.

No doubt they will have their own version which includes threats/violence and the fact that “the meeting still went ahead” blah blah but heres the facts, there was no violence, our lads just refused to leave and scuppered the meet.

Theresa May: called on to ban EDL march through Tower Hamlets

Council tells May: Ban EDL march or face judicial review

Tower Hamlets council is threatening to take the Government to court if it refuses to ban a march by far-Right group theEnglish Defence League.

Leaders are warning of violence if the event goes ahead on September 3 and will seek a judicial review if Home Secretary Theresa May does not ban it.

A council source said: "Something must be done to prevent this demonstration. If a judicial review is the only way then that is what we will do."
The EDL told members in an online message to take "our message into the heart of militant Islam within our own country". The message added: "We will go where we want, when we want."

Last week the Home Secretary banned an EDL march in Telford, Shropshire, saying she was acting to protect communities and property.

A Home Office spokesman said: "The Home Secretary can only ban a march in London following a formal application from the Commissioner of the Metropolitan police. No such application has been received. The Home Secretary will carefully consider any formal application, subject to the relevant legal tests."

Tower Hamlets Labour group leader Josh Peck said: "The EDL march should be banned. The police are more than capable of keeping them under control, but that won't stop the tension and anger that could exist long after they have left."

Budget car rental how they rip you off

Warning about booking car rentals from Budget car rental online. The scam is you book the car online and it seems cheap then when you turn up to collect it they then demand £500 to be paid on a debit or credit card. When you question them they give you the old "did you not read the terms and conditions"? Bullshit. Then when you argue they then say "ok you can pay £100 deposit but the cost of your car hire will go up by £10.39 a day".

If you then say you want to cancel they then keep £20 as an "admin charge" for cancelling. A total rip off all round. Nowhere did I notice about a £500 deposit. This gives a whole new meaning to the word "small print".

Their customer service people obviously flunked charm school as well, they speak to you like youre a dog.

Dont touch them with a bargepole and spread the word.
